Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc. All Hashiras Assembled

Demon Slayer: The Hashira Training – Honest Review (Spoiler Alert)

Wish I had not watched it at all. Being a binge watcher it is just torturous to wait for the next season, especially after how it all just ended. No emoji can express the intensity of this feeling.

It was the best cliffhanger ever, all of Demon Slayer Corps falling into the abyss of the Infinity Castle, Tanjiro vowing to kill Muzan and Zenitsu staying unexpectedly calm with his eyes open – I mean come on.

Now, let me keep my emotions aside so we can take an objective look at what really happened.

The arc begins with common knowledge of Nezuko having overcome the sun.

Well, this warrants Muzan and all of the Upper moons scratching and clawing their way towards the Demon Slayer Base right? But what actually happens creates a really tense and weird atmosphere: no demon attacks and sightings at all.

Overall, we knew what to expect, it was slow paced with Tanjiro and the demon slayer corps undergoing rigorous training conducted by the Hashiras.

From the basic physical regimen training of Uzui Tengen, all the way to the muscle reinforcement and endurance training of Gyomei Himeja- the Stone Hashira.

The trainings led to most of the squad members dropping out due to their sheer difficulty. Tanjiro and Inosuke were the only ones who made it through all the trainings. Himejima-san’ training was just too much for our flashy Zenitsu.

Although we see most of the Hashira’s dashing out training sessions, Shinobu Kocho- the poison Hashira did not take active part in the Hashira training as she, along with Lady Tamayo, was analyzing Nezuko’s immunity to the sun.

Yes, Tamayo’s character received some spotlight as she was invited by Oyakata-sama through his Kasugai Crow to help take down Muzan. Never in my life have I seen such an intimidating crow.

The arc was actually well thought out as it dived deep into the character developments of Tomioka Giyu- The Water Hashira and Gyomei Himejima- The Stone Hashira.

We see how Giyu overcomes the self-claimed title of “The Fake Hashira” with Tanjiro’s help. Past memories of his friendship with Sabito, also play a crucial part.

We learn about Gyomei’s early years, when he just pummeled the face of a demon through the night, till the sun came up, to save the life of a child in the orphanage he grew up in. Holy Crow, that strength!

Things really intensified with the last two episodes, turning what was expected to be a mediocre season into something much more exciting.

It was during the last episode that we see Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s resolve when he executes his plan of finishing Muzan. He knew, through his extraordinary foresight, that Muzan would visit him before his death.

To break the curse that plagued the Ubuyashiki family for giving birth to the demon king, he decided to sacrifice himself and his family by detonating an explosion that would take Muzan with them.

He also plans further with Tamayo and Gyomei, as he understands his sacrifice might not be enough to take out the demon king, but despite all his efforts we see Muzan smiling and all the Hashiras suddenly falling into the Infinity Castle.

Yep, this is where we finally get a glimpse of Nakime’s abilities as Upper Moon Four. Through the entire season we witness her spying on the Demon Slayer Corps and planting her eyes at various places. It was at these locations that the Infinity castle pathways opened.

Can you even imagine the season concluding here? I felt lifeless when the credits started showing up.

One of the standout strengths of the anime is the absolutely mind-blowing animation. Seriously, if you’ve seen the last episode’s fight sequence, you know what I mean. The slow-motion explosion and the special effects are so incredible that I want to watch it over and over again.

Another surreal moment that deserves to be noticed and appreciated is when we see Muzan exchanging dialogues with Ubuyashiki. It was during this conversation that the Demon King’s attention was suddenly drawn towards Ubuyashiki’s daughters, playing with a ball, unfazed and singing.

Dear Lord! The soundtrack that plays during this scene just adds to magic created.

Uh-Uh! Before we wrap up, there is an instance that warrants our undivided attention.

If Ubuyashiki really did want to get rid of the family curse which led to the death of all clan members before they reach their thirties, why did he blow everyone up? Now, no one is left to take his clan further. It just doesn’t make sense.

Maybe someone survives and makes it alive or maybe he has a son or daughter living somewhere we have never heard of. Now this is going to play on our minds as well, ugh!

Just so you know, Crunchyroll recently announced that the final arc, “The Infinity Castle,” will be adapted into a trilogy of movies, as revealed in their latest trailer. So, make up your mind.
