3. Blue Lock Season 2
Release Date: 5th October 2024
Streaming On: Crunchyroll
The highly anticipated second season of Blue Lock is finally here! This anime takes a unique approach to football, setting it apart from others in the genre. While classics like Captain Tsubasa are well-known, many other excellent football anime, such as Giant Killing and Days, which focused on core football tactics to win games and on friendships respectively, have flown under the radar. It may be because they were too detail oriented and lacked that pop/ X factor to become mainstream.
Blue Lock has transformed the football/soccer anime landscape with its captivating plot, memorable characters, and stunning animation which actually appeals to the non-footballing audience as well.
The story revolves around an organization called Blue Lock, which aims to find Japan’s best forward/striker, believed to be the key to unleash the best version of Japan in world football. A hundred exceptional strikers enter intense simulations and competitions, with only the top player emerging victorious. A tale of wonderful strategies, skills and lots of fun.
