This year might just be remembered as the year that in essence introduced anime to the world. Which is why, it is important to shed some light on some of the best anime of 2024.
With so many references from athletes in the 2024 Paris Olympics along with sequels to iconic series’ like Demon Slayer, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and anime such as Wind Breaker, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End receiving worldwide popularity, it makes a lot of sense.
The shonen and the Isekai genre were explored beautifully but there were some other really good anime that flew a little bit under our scope, “Bartender: Glass of God” and “The Fable” being some of them.
All in all, we had a really entertaining, jaw-dropping and one of the if not the best year with all that anime had to offer.
So, without any further delay, we present to you: 5 Best Anime to watch in 2024.
Number 1 is surprisingly good.

This needs no introduction, since the time Demon Slayer first came on to the scene it was a worldwide hit and saved the 5th spot of our best anime of 2024 list. The second season of the anime that was in the form of a movie “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train” went on to become the highest grossing film of 2020 with 41 million tickets sold. This is the fifth season anime where we see the Hashiras training the demon slayer corps along with Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu to prepare for the final battle with the demons. Finally, the hashiras get a lot more screen time compared to the previous seasons and we get to know all of them a bit closely. The character development is wonderful but what really brought this season to a whole another level was the animation. Join the Hashiras in training the entire demon slayer corps and get ready to face the demon emperor Kibutsuji Muzan until its time for the Infinity Castle Arc.

A really interesting addition to the Korean Anime sphere, based on a Korean web novel with the same name this anime is one of the barn burners of the year. A fantasy setting where monsters from other worlds breach a modern-day Korea and it order to tackle them, we see Hunter associations comprised of Humans with special abilities called Hunters. All the hunters are assigned a rank using the S-E ranking system, S being the highest rank with E being the lowest. We follow the story of “The Weakest Hunter Mankind has ever seen”, Sung Jinwoo, as you can guess an E level hunter. There is a silver lining for the MC though, in a world where once a rank is assigned to a hunter it is impossible to change on level up, he is the only one who can actually do so. Hence, the name Solo Leveling.

Now although this has shades of My Hero Academia and Attack on Titan, it is entertaining as hell and packs a solid punch. A shonen anime, Kaiju are monsters who appear on earth and the government of Japan has created a special Anti- Kaiju Defense force to tackle the issue at hand. The main character Kafka Hibino is a middle-aged man in his thirties and works for a professional Kaiju cleaning company called Monster Sweeper Inc. He once had a dream and that was joining the Anti Kaiju defense force, but despite several failed attempts he had seemingly given up on his dream.
One fine day, he meets a young man who has the same dream and it reignites his belief and motivates him to have one last crack. Will he be able to make it? And if he indeed does what happens next? Watch to find out.

A catchy opening theme song that topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100, a setting that feels like a Harry Potter parody, an anime all about magic and a little bit of muscle as well, if entertainment had a recipe, then this is it. All humans in this world have at least a line on their faces which indicates that they have magical power. Those who do not, are outcasted by the government and are punished with the death penalty as they are seen as someone who has been forsaken by God. Mash Burnedead is a man who has no lines on his face but his father has kept him away from the city and he trains like a maniac since he was a kid and has tanks for muscles. Of course he is not going to stay hidden forever right. It is roller coaster ride and you are going to feel on your heart and cheeks.
Wonderful animation, comedy at its peak and a really lovable main character. This has it all.

So, here we present Yatagarsu which made its place at the top spot of our best anime of 2024 list. Although the year 2024 had a lot of wonderful Isekai and Shonen anime, this one stands out. A breath of fresh air, layers of suspense and unfathomable depth, political strife at its finest and a storyline for the ages.
We are in Yamauchi – A world where Humans can transform into three-legged crows; well, it actually is the other way around. This enigmatic race is governed by the golden three-legged crow who stands at the top.
Now it is time for deciding on the next king and we witness a battle for the throne between two brothers or should I say, step brothers. Additionally, we see noble ladies from esteemed houses interlocked in a battle to win over the next King’s favor for marriage.
A web of lies, intricate plans and jarring plot twists – it gets better with every episode.
